From February 8 to 13, 2024, a retreat for Missions Mobilization coordinators in the Mesoamerica Region was held in Juan Dolio, Dominican Republic. 14 mobilizers and coordinators from the five fields attended and enjoyed a time of learning, planning, prayer, and relaxation.
During the rest and training days, God moved through each leader, not only as they planned and strategized for their different mission fields, but also as he helped them realize that God’s mission to raise up more missionaries to the nations is centered on personal relationships.
The group witnessed the Lord work in powerful ways as they met some wonderful people staying or working at the hotel during the same dates. For example, the Missions Mobilization team decided to pray for Lina, a woman from Colombia who was alone on her birthday. After the prayer, Lina shared her story with tears in her eyes, which began a beautiful friendship with the group. Another employee, Josefina, worked serving appetizers, and one day she ended up being part of one of the team’s devotionals, singing and worshiping God. At the same time, her testimony opened the door for the leaders to pray with the hotel’s entire kitchen team – more than 20 people!

God used the Missions Mobilization leaders to be able to impact others and at the same time teach them the importance of making personal relationships with those around them.
This retreat also focused on God using the coordinators and their ministry teams as instruments to motivate young people, adults and even children so that in the coming months and years they can say: “Here am I; send me” (Isaiah 6:8).
This article cannot be concluded without also asking for René Gutiérrez (Mexico Field Coordinator) and his speedy recovery to be lifted up in prayer, and at the same time to intercede for Marc Versil (Haiti Field Coordinator) and for the political situation within his country.
*This year Missions Mobilization would like to challenge everyone to join in prayer by setting an alarm for 9:38 AM/PM and interceding for workers. That specific time of day echoes of Matthew 9:38 where Jesus himself asks his disciples to pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out more workers to the harvest fields.
