Maximum Mission: “Share Christ”

Guaco, La Vega, Dominican Republic

From October 20 to 22, 2023, a Maximum Mission was carried out in the Northeast District of the Dominican Republic. 22 participants impacted the Guaco community in La Vega and assisted in strengthening and developing a local Church of the Nazarene.

The objective of this Maximum Mission was to help strengthen the Guaco church through love, prayer, and service. The district’s Missions Mobilization coordinator, Edward Ramírez, testified: “This was a different event that the Lord put in the hearts of my team, and He sent us a group of young people and adolescents who were tireless and willing to serve. From their arrival on Friday, their enthusiasm and desire to serve was evident.”

On Saturday before sunrise, creative evangelism activities were held in the community near the church, and then again in the afternoon in the city center. The group also led two Bible Schools for children in different locations. All this made a difference in the church; many people who had left came back to faith and returned to the church.

A young participant, Eliani Pérez shared: “On Saturday afternoon we went to the community with the children. We saw their enthusiasm, the happiness on their faces, and the complete satisfaction that they were being loved and treated as Christ would. That filled me up. In the morning service I enjoyed the time where we all learned about spiritual disciplines; there God spoke to the lives of the people.”

The pastor of the congregation, Luis Gonzáles, was impressed with all the work that was done, and Ramírez relates that the main leaders and coordinators of the Maximum Mission are more than grateful to God for what he did in that place: “We give glory to God because He mobilized us in this community. The church that was going to close due to lack of members ended up with one new profession of faith, several people being reconciled anew with God, four new members, and 40 people attending services.”
