Discover Missions is a global opportunity where young people ages 18 to 26 can continue to discover and affirm their calling to missions. This year the event will take place June 7-19 in Nairobi, Kenya.
23 young people from Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America have been selected to represent the Mesoamerican Region. They have been working hard to raise funds so they can fulfill the call that God has placed on their lives. When God knocks on the door of our hearts and we decide to say, “Here am I,” he also accompanies us in the process and opens doors so that we can move forward in ministry.
Some of the testimonies of the participants are impacting us, even months before traveling to Africa:
“I have raised funds by selling Bibles, keychains, and stickers with missions themes. My local church has supported me by selling food, and we have held missionary services and vigils.” –Axel Padilla (El Salvador)
“We are three young people committed to the call of God, from the same country, a single district, and a single church. We have been collecting small second-hand things (keychains, rings, watches, bracelets, scarves, toys). We are selling these things in our church, and wherever we have seen an activity in our district, we set up our ‘mobile store.’ God has touched hearts so that people give with great faith, believing that where their feet cannot go, their money can.” –Yerys Amador, Pablo Almánzar, and Wellington Muñoz (Dominican Republic)
“I started at the conventions in my district selling evangelistic bracelets and some boxes in the shape of churches. I made desserts and put them inside the little churches, and I decided not to put a price on them. Whatever the brothers and sisters wanted to give ended up being much more than the amount I had originally in my mind!” –Victoria Trujillo (Mexico)
As members of one Church, we unite in supporting these young people and the event staff. Each one is working hard, and we thank all the pastors and faithful people who are giving sacrificially to send these missionaries. We ask that much prayer be lifted up so that God would use them greatly and that, after this trip, they would be guided by the Holy Spirit and reaffirm their calls to the cross-cultural mission field.
