In May 2020, the following letter came across my desk:
Dear friends,
I greet you in the blessed name of our Lord and Savior Jesus-Christ.
After months of prayer, interviews and consultations it is my pleasure to announce the appointment of Carlos Gordon as the new Africa Regional Finance Coordinator.
Carlos is originally from Jamaica, he attends the St. John’s Green Acres Church of the Nazarene, located in the parish of St. Catherines, Jamaica, where he has been actively involved from childhood. He currently works as a Project Officer in the Principal’s Office, for the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus. He is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Lecturer and Trainer with an MBA in International Business, PgDp in Business Administration and a BSc in Experimental Biology…
…As you’re able, join me in welcoming Carlos Gordon to the Africa Regional Ministry Leadership Team and let us do our best to make his transition as smooth as possible and commit to pray for him.
Thank you all for your prayers and support throughout this process.
Yours in Him,
Dr. Daniel. A.K.L. Gomis
Regional Director (Africa)
I was overjoyed! We have been in contact with Carlos for the past eight years and have seen how God has confirmed his call to cross-cultural ministry in the midst of some truly challenging circumstances. The Worthless Servants Podcast recently interviewed him, and he dives into a lot of those details in his testimony. At the time of the interview, Carlos was functioning as the Africa Regional Finance Coordinator from his home and office in Jamaica due to difficulties provoked by the global COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, he has been able to move to Kenya, and the plan is to eventually move him to the Regional Office in South Africa when borders open up.
This week I spoke with Carlos and he gives this update:
“I’m settling well in Kenya. It’s been a blessing so far. I’ve been mostly in meetings since I’ve been here, but I had a wonderful time last week when I visited the University church at Africa Nazarene University.”

Let’s all support him in prayer and financially in the coming months. We love you, Carlos! Thanks for saying “yes” to God’s call on your life!
